This is the only way to preserve and spread our passion for quality coffee-making. Each course is a mixture of three base ingredients: tradition, culture and professionalism. The courses are structured on many levels and address both to professionals and coffee-lovers. Moreover, Bazzara coffee academy holds the examination modules for the Coffee Diploma System held by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe(SCA). Our certifications are valid for gaining formative credits.

Inspired by family tradition, roasting high quality blends since 1966 in Trieste, Italy – the capital of espresso coffee – Mauro is a promoter of the Italian espresso culture who has written, together with his brother Franco, many international bestsellers about coffee. In 1998, Mauro founded IBEA – Italian Barista Espresso Academy – the first Bazzara coffee training centre for the diffusion and promotion of the Italian espresso and cappuccino in the world. In the same year his company became one of the pioneer members of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe. Besides directing and designing all the courses of the Bazzara Academy, in 2014 he completed the Coffee Diploma System and became Authorized SCA Trainer for all the modules: Introduction to Coffee, Green Coffee, Roasting, Brewing, Sensory Skills and Barista Skills.
Marco was born in ‘88 and brought up amongst the aroma of the Bazzara blends. Since a very young age, he has developed a passion for every aspect of the coffee world. In 2006, he started training at the Italian Barista Espresso Academy. Marco combines continuous coffee training with the study of economics, which led him to a comprehensive approach of the coffee production system. In 2012 he completed the first levels of the SCA CDS module Barista Skills. After proving himself as assistant trainer, he took on the Coffee Lab management. In 2014, he achieved the CDS Coffee Diploma System, thus becoming the Manager of the Academy. He is also Quality Manager at Bazzara Espresso, dealing with coffee selection, roasting and blending. Besides, Marco is a member of some of the most important Italian Trade Associations in the coffee field, like Associazione Caffè Trieste and Gruppo Italiano Triveneto Torreffattori.
Our Academy is located in the beating heart of Trieste, Italy – capital city of high quality coffee - immersed in an Art Nouveau environment, surrounded by buildings designed by Giuseppe Sommaruga and historical cafeterias where Joyce and Svevo used to meet.
