Bazzara Academy receives a new certification: it has become an Iiac academy

The Bazzara Corporate Academy continues its path of growth and expansion. After being nominated, in 2017, SCA Premier Training Campus and becoming part of the Conference of Academies – a group of Italian training excellence, established thanks to the initiative of Storytellers of taste -, now being chosen by the International Institute of Coffee Tasters (IIAC) as IIAC Academy, further improves its status and conditions to be able to pursue the goal of safeguarding and spreading the knowledge of quality coffee.

IIAC is an independent and scientific association for the tasting of coffee, founded in 1993 with the aim of spreading scientific methods for the sensorial evaluation of coffee. The IIAC Academy forms a network of IIAC accredited coffee schools and meets specific requirements in terms of teaching spaces, equipment and teaching aids. They are a place of knowledge and sharing of the knowledge of coffee and comparison between professionals – Home to those who dedicate every day to the sensorial analysis of Italian espresso.

The training offered at the Bazzara Academy is therefore further enriched and adds new formats to create the professionals of tomorrow and bring coffee lovers close to the work that lies behind the final extraction of the blend. In Trieste, it will be possible to follow the courses of the International Institute of Coffee Tasters: modules that aim to provide, through sensorial analysis, criteria and tools for practical application to guide production, along the entire supply chain, towards obtaining a product that gives maximum pleasure to the consumer.

Bazzara launches their campaign “For those who know what to choose”

Bazzara, an artisan roasting company that exports high quality blends abroad for years, has chosen to start the advertising campaign “For those who know what to choose” to approach the Italian market and expand its brand awareness on the consumer target, through the implementation of a communication plan via digital media.

Developed in multichannel logic, the campaign includes several high impact activities both on desktop and mobile – as an Adv advertising display on the Google network, Search Adv and social ads on Facebook – and is based on an evocative communication, conveyed through videos and images that invite the consumer to reflect on the impact of each choice of their lifestyle. «The first commercial, starring actress Zita Fusco, inaugurates a trend whose main theme will be the claim “for those who know what to choose”- explains Adriano Rosso, art director of the spot – and focuses on the extraordinary balance of a blend that contains in itself twelve different origins of Arabica, winking at a conscious audience whom is able to recognize the true quality, through the final sequence where the narrating voice whispers “For those who bring their lips close to the cup and stop the world for a moment …”».

The first planned phase of the campaign involves online newspapers and portals of different kinds: at the end of April it saw its start with a series of pre-roll videos on the news network of La Repubblica, in May and June it will develop on other magazines, as well as on Facebook and Instagram channels.

«We are happy to have started this project – says Franco Bazzara, owner of the homonymous company -. Our innovative technological approach has always fascinated us and therefore we enthusiastically seized the challenge that our internal communications team launched».

«For Italy we have chosen to offer the finest blend, the Dodicigrancru, concised into four formats between pods and compatible capsules – adds the managing director Mauro Bazzara – and I want to take this opportunity to thank Matteo Prodan and Jorge Muchut, respectively film director and director of photography, which together alongside Adriano have managed to make a commercial that in terms of atmosphere and message conveyed, seems perfect for communicating a coffee with an artisan style, sophisticated and respectful of traditions – designed for consumers who love gourmet products whom are able to appreciate the complexity of a blend in which perfectly merges “natural” and “washed” coffee: a mix that allows the body and cream to be found in the cup, but at the same time enhances the vivacity of taste and finer notes».

Bazzara presents their DODICIGRANCRU blend in pods and capsules at Sigep

From 20th to 24th January, Bazzara will be at Sigep Rimini with a stand characterized by the distinctive modern elegance that has been defining the product lines in the last few years, made up of soft lines and by the white, grey and blue colour scheme: 100 square metres (Pad D2 – Stand 064) divided into 3 main areas that will host the three main core activities of this Trieste-based company.

Two of these areas will offer coffee professionals and enthusiasts the opportunity to taste the Bazzara blends and besides the beans, created for coffee shops and restaurants,  a big news will be presented at the Rimini event for the first time: Bazzara has entered the world of the single-serve coffee.

Bazzara, in fact, is expanding its top range Dodicigrancru with pods and capsules. The extraordinary balance of twelve of the best “Coffea Arabica Grand Cru” of the world created by the Bazzara Brothers, will be now available to all the high quality coffee enthusiasts at home, thanks to the new 44mm pods and a range of capsules compatible with the Nespresso®*, ESPRESSO POINT®*, A MODO MIO®* and LAVAZZA®* systems. Capsules and pods will be distributed respectively in boxes of 25 and 35 pieces and individually packaged in order to preserve all the blend’s characteristics and peculiarities.

The single-serve project is part of the Bazzara business development plan, aiming at the Italian market for the first time as well as consolidating its position in the 25 countries where it has been working for  decades.

The third area will be entirely dedicated to the Bazzara Academy: here, thanks to the AST (Authorised SCA Trainer) Marco Bazzara, visitors will discover all the courses in the 2018 calendar and learn more about custom made options.

Sigep will host the International finals of the WCE (World Coffee Events) championship promoted by SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) and, in this sense, it represents the perfect occasion to introduce the first certified SCA Premier Training Campus in Italy for all the modules and levels of the new Coffee Skills Program.

This result was reached by the Bazzara Academy in 2017, when it became the first certified Italian facility delivering all the levels and modules of the Coffee Skills Program. In the same year, it also became one of the founder members of the Conferenza delle Accademie, a group gathering the leading Italian professional academies thanks to the initiative of Narratori del Gusto.

Thanks to the collaboration with Narratori del Gusto and Conferenza delle Accademie, Bazzara will have a strategic role in the Sensory Academy workshop, organized at the stand 21-26 pavilion D3, having had a crucial role both in defining the innovative didactic approach for the “new academic world” and supporting the realization of the module “The Aromas of Espresso Coffee”. In fact, during the event, many fun and informative didactic activities and workshops will be organized.

For Bazzara, this workshop will not be the only side event: during the five-day event in Rimini the project Italian Coffee Icons will be filmed: an idea conceived to spread the culture of high quality espresso through a series of videos showcasing the true icons of the Italian coffee industry.

What is more, at the Bazzara stand, all the coffee lovers, have the chance to enjoy exciting games at the soccer table: in fact, at the stand there will be the prototype of the soccer tables realized to support the multifunctional centres of Lazio that, last year, were affected by the earthquake: a small gesture of solidarity realised by Bazzara with the contribution of all the technical sponsors of the last edition of Trieste Coffee Experts event, one of the most important formats created by the Bazzara Brothers to promote coffee culture.

Don’t miss this appointment at Stand 64 Pavillion D2!*This trademark is not owned by Bazzara s.r.l. nor any related company.

Bazzara Academy becomes SCA Premier Training Campus

Pioneer Member of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe since 1998, Bazzara continues along the path of quality coffee promotion and diffusion, reaching a new milestone: following the inspection of Owen Thom – Training & Quality Coordinator SCA –, the Bazzara Academy joins officially the leading international network of SCA Premier Training Campuses which, unlike the Authorised Training Venues, have to meet very specific and restrictive requirements including – among the others – the classrooms’ width, luminosity, ventilation, climate control, the absence of external noise, health and safety procedures, logistics and internal organizations, the water and coffee quality along the suitability of the equipment.
The Bazzara Academy is situated in an Art Nouveau building in the heart of Trieste, considered the Italian capital city of espresso coffee for more than three centuries. The school is 250 m and it is divided into four main spaces: the Training Centre, the Cupping&Roasting Lab, the Brewing&Sensory Area. Each area has passed the inspection tests, proving to be perfectly in line with SCA standards and protocols. This results was also possible thanks to the state-of-the-art equipment that the Bazzara Academy offers to its students: the top models by Astoria, Bunn, BWT,
Cimbali, Dalla Corte, Mahlkönig, Nuova Simonelli, Petroncini, Sanremo; dozens of tools which allow many students to learn different extraction methods and using various appliances for the
evaluation of green and roasted coffee.
The Bazzara Academy is the first Italian facility certified by SCA as Premier Training Campus for all the Sensory & Green, Barista & Brewing and Roasting (Add-on) modules and levels. A recognition that certifies the quality of the training offered, intended by SCA as a way to support everyone who is looking at the vast universe of coffee training courses. The SCA Campuses, in fact, can be found everywhere and their main goal is to build a network which gives to the professionals of the coffee sector the possibility of being proficient in all the internationally recognised training modules of the SCA Coffee Diploma System, thus approaching to a high-profile career in the specialty coffee sector.
The Bazzara Academy training team is guided by Mauro Bazzara – coffee trainer since the nineties, AST since 2014 and author of specialist books about coffee – is able to deliver courses in various languages besides English and Italian, overcoming the linguistic barriers, thanks to the support of specialized interpreters and a network of experts able to deliver a 360°overview about coffee.

Bazzara Espresso hosted a meeting of the representatives of the Custom Agencies of the ODYSSUD group

TRIESTE – In the context of cooperation between European Community Custom Agencies, the Odyssud group was formed: it includes the representatives of the Customs’ Agency of Marsaxlokk (Malta), Pireo (Grecia), Limassol (Cipro), Barcellona (Spagna), Marsiglia (Francia), Varna (Bulgaria), Constanta (Romania), Koper (Slovenia), Fiume (Croazia) and Trieste (Italia).
The group’s goal is to ensure a consistent level of control in the European Community. It gathers twice a year in Brussels in order to coordinate customs’ management policies.
Another meeting is organized in rotation in a port city within
the spatial scope of competence.
This year it was held on the 18th, 19th and 20th of April in Trieste. The port of Trieste is known as a European crucial joint for coffee importing and processing.
The meeting of April 2017 saw the Odyssud group as a most welcome guest at the Bazzara Academy located in Via Battisti 1: the group had a chance to analyze and study the new trends of the coffee sector. The Managing Director Franco Bazzara personally lead a tasting session of the traditional Italian Espresso.
The customs’ officials of the Odyssud Group and Trieste Customs thanked Bazzara for the professionalism and sympathy that characterized the fruitful meeting of April 18th.
Italy, renowned all over the world for its coffee culture, has the know-how to fill the gaps and it’s a pleasure to know that this project conceived by Franco and Mauro Bazzara, some of the main experts of the Italian coffee sector, will bring their editorial contribute to Russia. My hope is that the books are not a point of arrival, but the starting point of a coffee training journey that will include workshops, masterclasses and other educational initiatives about the coffee production system. I’m sure that the Russian edition of the Bazzara books will be extremely helpful to achieve this goal”.
The Bazzara brothers’ aim is to present the new books by October 2016 at the TriestEspresso Expo. Also the editorial partners of the Coffee Saga are enthusiastic about this project.
Increasing brand awareness throughout such an appealing market, with a product that will stand the test of time and promote the culture of espresso is indeed a unique opportunity.

A huge recognition from Colombia for Italian coffee roaster Franco Bazzara

TRIESTE, Italy – Franco Bazzara was decorated with the “Cavaliere Distinguido con la Orden del Escudo de Caldas” award.

The governor Carlos Alberto Piedrahito Gutiérrez from the coffee Department of Caldas in Colombia recognized in Franco – owner at Bazzara Espresso together with his brother Mauro – an “Ambassador” of coffee promotion as well as a strategic ally in coffee initiatives in Colombia and in Caldas in particular.

The entrepreneur from Trieste allowed the region to improve commercial trade and support its farmers as well as to foster the twinning between Italy and Colombia and was therefore rewarded with the prestigious recognition.

“I would like to thank governor Gutiérrez for the honour – says Bazzara – but I wish to share it with my brother Mauro and the whole Bazzara team.

The decoration was made possible thanks to their dedicated support. We were also blessed with constant backing by ABCnet from Rome, a consulting company specializing in internationalization, innovation and investments between Latin America and the European Union.

Heartfelt thanks to Dora María Peñaloza, who tirelessly contributed to and consolidated the bond between our countries.

My respect and gratitude go to the Mayor of Manizales, José Octavio Cardona León (protagonist of a vibrant speech in occasion of a conference at the opening ceremony of the Triestespresso Expo, ed.), to my untiring friend Angelo Quintero Palacio, to Dr. Gloria de Fenalco, to Cooperativa de Cafeteros and to my friend Manuel.

They all backed me in this path and hoped for this award.

I feel a strong sense of responsibility given that Colombia is living a peculiar moment: after 50 years of pain and suffering the current transition can finally lead to a time of prosperity and economic rebirth, exactly like it happened to Italy in its postwar period.

I believe that a nation as big as France and Spain merged together and so rich in natural resources has a limitless potential and that our future projects are not only going to be successful, but will also contribute to the task of making new generations fall in love with coffee and raising true coffee professionals.

The Republic of Colombia is the linchpin and the future of quality Espresso coffee. Beautiful country, filled with unique individuals.”
